Overclock with bitcoin...
(1/1)
AmDD:
So normally when you overclock a video card and you push it too far it will give you artifacts in a game or the system will crash or just black out the screen... What happens if you overclock too far with mining bitcoins? Do you get more rejected? Does it throw off the blockchain by calculating wrong?
I ask because I currently have a 4850 @ 795mhz on stock voltage and a 5850 @ 900 on stock voltage. Both have been running for days (Im new to mining) with no issues but both seem like above average overclocks for stock voltages...

Yes, my 6970 is the same way, but remember unlike gaming which needs to transfer textures and do a lot more than just run calculation, which is all miners do is run calculations. That is why running a monster video card on a PCIE 1x port is fine, the bandwidth needed is very small.
AmDD:
Makes sense, but still, how far can you push them before the calculations are wrong? *Can* they even be wrong?
zeronic:
I wouldn't push them passed the stock voltage unless you want to possible burn out the video card. Just push them to the point of stable overcloaking.
